With songs being made for specific purposes like playlisting, radio play, and/or placement to visual, songwriting strategies have evolved to maximize effort in getting songs placed. Each of these avenues requires an attention to detail in order to land a coveted spot. This workshop series dives into the key elements that will help a song hit its target. Topics will cover Song Structure and Strategies; Title Placement and Hook Writing; Melodic Construction and Development; Lyrical Setting and Concept Ideation; Collaboration Strategies; Song Arrangement and Production and you get the opportunity to bring songs in for feedback and revision.

Meet Rodney Alejandro:

In his multiple decade year career, Rodney has become recognized as a protean polymath within the entertainment industry. He is adept at giving a rock star performance both on stage as well as behind the scenes. His career spans achievements as a musician, arranger, songwriter, music producer, music director, entertainment executive, public speaker, and educator.

He has been honored by his alma mater Berklee College of Music as the alumnus of the year, and in 2011 received recognition as the music education advocate of the year from the recording academy - tx chapter. In 2020, after decades career working on stages and in studios around the world, Rodney now adds professor to his list of professional roles. He has been an associate professor at Berklee College of music where he teaches in the songwriting department sharing his knowledge and experience from his distinguished music career.
