Through interactive examples, descriptions and demonstrations, we will take a look at the entire scoring process and the team members involved. We will discuss how to set up a mobile or home studio and what it takes to become a visual media composer. We will also explore industry standard software and hardware solutions so that students can see what they need to score a film, video game or TV show.

Learning Objectives:

-Learn a brief history of film and music, from silent movies to contemporary films
-Understand who the ‘filmmaking team’ is and what they do
-Recognise the different components of the scoring process
-Familiarise yourself with the technical tools needed to compose a score
-Comprehend the composition process and associated techniques
-Learn about the future of scoring and emerging technologies
