This certificate course will introduce students to the powerful tools and techniques needed for digital music production. Starting with the basics of audio and how to use a Digital Audio Workstation all the way to song pre-production, recording, editing and mixing techniques. Through a series of assignments students learn how to create their own songs and instrumental tracks while developing their ability to think and listen like a producer.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
Effectively use a Digital Audio Workstation to record and develop their own musical ideas.
Leverage a multitude of tools for music production, including recording, editing, MIDI programming, editing and mixing.
Cultivate nuanced listening skills and employ them in the production process.
